The HLD® coating is a chemical process.
During the anodizing process an approx. 3-8 µm thick titanium oxide layer is created on the base material, which, depending on the composition of the base material, has a mouse-grey to white coloring; due to its refractive properties this oxide layer is very well suited for the use of scan bodies.
The layer essentially consists of titanium and oxygen, although traces of other elements may be included.
Only parts made of pure titanium can be processed.
Depending on the purity or element composition of the base material different shades / nuances can be used. The deposited titanium oxide layer is extremely brittle! The layer should not have strong external mechanical stresses (e.g. bending, hitting, clamping, scratching).
